Location: Battery Park, NY
Contract Value: $1,166,100.00
Completion Date: September 2014
Project Details
This comfort station is being restored, upgraded and made ADA compliant as part of an overall effort to improve Battery Park. The original limestone façade will be restored, while the roof will be reconfigured to create a striking contemporary profile. New and improved fixtures, lighting and finishes are being installed, while the amount of natural light into the interior spaces will be increased.
The comfort station will be conveniently located within a new bike respite area and close to the Town Green, both of which are being constructed in the current Battery Park and Perimeter Bikeway project. This improved comfort station not only will serve visitors to the reconstructed park but will be an important public amenity along the Manhattan Greenway.
This project was made possible by MTA mitigation funds provided in connection with the previous reconstruction of the South Ferry subway station.
While this comfort station is under construction, another one is available to park patrons on the other side of the park on the side of the Battery Gardens restaurant building.
